[Odagiri Nishikishi Laboratory]
Nishikishi is a natural stone collected around the Tsugaru Peninsula and when polished, it becomes glossy and beautiful colors and patterns appear. It has been loved by people for its beauty since ancient times, and in the Jomon period it was processed into 'katadama', in the Muromachi period it was prized as 'shari-ishi' and exported as far away as Tang China and India, and in the Edo period it was called Tsugaru-tama and prized as ornaments such as kanzashi (ornamental hairpins). Today, it is known as a beautiful stone for appreciation, as well as an ornament such as rings and necklaces, and this project was an attempt to sublimate it into a product.
